About Fusion . . . Picture the scene: 3 years ago (ish); a dark and stormy night (I'm guessing, we are in the Central Belt here); and in the bowels of a gloomy pub a small group of university students stare deep into their pints and mull over an idea that surely could never work.
That idea was to save an organisation that had been pushed to almost total obscurity within university life. That idea was Strathclyde Fusion. From its humble beginnings, and in what has now become Fusion's trademark “leap before we really know what walking is” style, the youngest student radio in Glasgow has grown to an unimaginable size. What started as a couple of people doing a few shows a day has blossomed in to a polished (we're working on that) schedule that comprises over 90 presenters, from 9am 'til 11pm every weekday, and even the dizzying heights of weekend broadcasting. With a genuinely eclectic mix of chat shows, live music shows, interviews and the odd club night or two at the Strathclyde Union, Fusion is continuing to expand and evolve. We might still be small, but we've got world domination in our sights.
Well, maybe just Glasgow first, eh? 2011/12 Committee
